KARATE
This program was designed to make the art of karate accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability, or physical limitations. We believe that martial arts should be inclusive and provide a safe and supportive environment for all participants, for all abilities.
Our program is led by experienced black-belt instructors who are dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of karate while also adapting the techniques to meet the needs of each individual. Whether you are a beginner or have previous martial arts experience, our program will challenge and empower you to unlock your full potential no matter your ability. Here at Special Kicks, we don’t focus on a student’s disability—instead, we reveal the abilities within.
Our curriculum includes a variety of techniques, including strikes, kicks, blocks, and self-defense skills, with a focus on developing discipline, confidence, and respect. We also incorporate strength and conditioning exercises to help you build endurance and improve your overall fitness level, no matter where you are on your journey. We work with students with different abilities who are navigating life with autism, Down syndrome, developmental delays, amputations, genetic variations, Tourette syndrome, microcephaly, cerebral palsy, vision impairment, epilepsy, or brain injury, among other diagnoses. To us, a person is more than his or her diagnosis, and we seek to help develop that person into the best possible version of himself or herself.
In addition to our regular classes, we offer private lessons tailored to your specific needs and goals. Our program includes opportunities for belt advancement for every student.
KRAV MAGA
Krav Maga is a highly effective self-defense system that was originally developed for the Israeli Defense Forces. Our program is designed to make Krav Maga accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability, or physical limitations.
According to statistics, one in three women will experience physical violence in their lifetime, and one in four men will experience physical violence as well. Additionally, individuals with disabilities are at a higher risk for violence and abuse. Our program aims to empower students with different abilities to protect themselves and others in potentially dangerous situations.
Our program is led by experienced black-belt instructors who are dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of Krav Maga while also adapting the techniques to meet the needs of each individual. Whether you are a beginner or have previous martial arts experience, our program will challenge and empower you to reach your full potential.
Our curriculum includes a variety of techniques, including strikes, kicks, blocks, and self-defense maneuvers, with a focus on practical self-defense skills. We also incorporate strength and conditioning exercises to help you build endurance and improve your overall fitness level.

JIU-JITSU
Our program is designed to make Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability, or physical limitations. We believe that martial arts should be inclusive and provide a safe and supportive environment for all participants.
Our program is led by experienced instructors who are dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of jiu-jitsu while also adapting the techniques to meet the needs of each individual. Whether you are a beginner or have previous martial arts experience, our program will challenge and empower you to reach your full potential. Our instructors have experience working with children and adults with different abilities, including autism, cerebral palsy, genetic variations, Down syndrome, epilepsy, PTSD, spinal cord injuries, and amputations.
Our adaptive curriculum includes a variety of basic jiu-jitsu techniques, including throws, joint locks, chokes, and ground fighting, with a focus on practical self-defense skills. We also incorporate strength and conditioning exercises to help you build endurance and improve your overall fitness level, no matter where you are on your journey.
In addition to our regular classes, we offer private lessons tailored to your specific needs and goals. Our program also includes opportunities for competition and belt advancement for those who are interested.
